School Children Get Creative for A Picture Perfect Christmas

BIRMINGHAM, UK - Classmates from Damson Wood Infant School are pitching their creative efforts against each other for the chance to design Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel’s 2010 Christmas card.
Getting into the festive season early, the 60 children aged 6 and 7 have been asked by staff at the hotel to develop a Christmas card which depicts ‘the Hilton at Christmas.’ Judging of the cards will be led by the hotel’s general manager, Patrick Stapleton. The winning child will not only receive the honour of having their design printed into card format and circulated to the Metropole’s client list, but they will also win an overnight stay with bed, breakfast and evening meal for their family at any UK Hilton of their choice.
As a thank you for being involved, Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel will also be donating £200 to the school.
Commenting on the competition, Patrick Stapleton, said: “This year we want our Christmas card to be something really special which is not only meaningful to the hotel but will be a nice surprise for our clients and partners who receive the card.
“We have a longstanding relationship with Damson Wood Infant school and we know the children are incredibly creative after they came and decorated chocolate eggs with us at Easter, so we were really keen to get them involved. We’re looking forward to judging the cards and picking our finalist.”
Marilyn Phipps, head teacher of Damson Wood Infant school, added: “We welcomed the opportunity to get the children involved in a competition which allows them to be creative while having fun. The children and their families are excited at the prospect of winning an overnight stay in a UK Hilton Hotel of their choice. We thank Patrick and the hotel for their kind £200 donation.”
