World-Class Deli Dishes Up Gourmet Groceries For Gold Coast

GOLD COAST, Australia - The Gold Coast will be treated to a world-class gourmet marketplace and European-style delicatessen when The Food Store launches at Hilton Surfers Paradise on September 14.

With an exclusive range of cheeses, charcuterie and small goods that are not currently available anywhere else on the Gold Coast, The Food Store will also serve Artesian breads baked on site, and provide a delicious retail offering including organic yoghurts, natural ice creams, and a range of wines, olive oils and hand-made pastas.

An offering unique to Hilton’s Surfers Paradise property, the concept was developed by Luke Mangan and the hotel team in consultation with culinary doyen and gourmet food retailer John Manos.

The boutique delicatessen will feature local and imported produce to take home or enjoy onsite with a luxuriously designed interior featuring dark wood panelling, intimate booths and leather chairs by Landini Associates.

The Food Store will provide customers with a full gourmet experience and is bound to become a favourite not only with hotel guests, but also locals looking for a place to meet for coffee or to find that special deli item for a picnic or entertaining at home.

Hilton Surfers Paradise Executive Chef Thomas Pirker has spent significant time researching the local produce market to find the best of the best to stock The Food Store’s shelves.

Authentic Italian smallgoods manufacturers Salumi Australia are based in Billinudgel north of Byron Bay, and will supply salamis and cured meats for The Food Store’s Charcuterie selection.

Using locally bred Bangalow Sweet Pork, authentic Sardinian recipes and traditional drying and ageing processes, Salumi’s products will be exclusively stocked at The Food Store on the Gold Coast.

Thomas Pirker said The Food Store at Hilton Surfers Paradise would be a unique offering for the Surfers Paradise precinct and the entire region. “The Food Store will be a place for hotel guests to enjoy a coffee or ice-cream during their stay or buy ingredients for antipasto to enjoy on their balcony in the afternoon,” Thomas said.

“Local residents will also benefit from a new meeting place for a lunchtime Panini or afternoon drinks with a cheese platter, as well as an outlet that will exclusively stock a range of items for cooking and entertaining at home.

“We have been very lucky to secure some of the best local producers like Salumi Australia, as well as Luke Mangan’s branded products and items sourced internationally, making The Food Store a must-see for visitors and a new hub for local food-lovers.”

Salumi Australia will host regular tastings of their products in The Food Store with the meats also used throughout Hilton Surfers Paradise in Salt grill and the bar and room service menus.
