Team Members From Hilton London Wembley Celebrate Second Annual Hilton Worldwide Global Week Of Service

Local Volunteers Join Thousands of Team Members Across 90 Countries and Territories by Serving Chalkhill Community Centre

LONDON - In celebration of Hilton Worldwide’s second annual Global Week of Service, October 6 – 12, volunteers from Hilton London Wembley redecorated the Chalkhill Community Centre. Community service is a tradition embedded in Hilton Worldwide’s culture, and acts of volunteerism occur year-round across the six distinct brands and more than 250 properties in Europe. The efforts of Hilton London Wembley were part of Hilton Worldwide’s week-long celebration of the company’s commitment to serving the communities where Team Members live, work and travel, which this year included hundreds of hands-on service projects globally.

“It’s been fantastic working with a local charity such as the Chalkhill Community Centre. The work we’ve done will have a real impact in the immediate community. Through this activity during the Global Week of Service, Team Members are sharing their passion and expertise to spread the light and warmth of hospitality,” said Bernadette Gilligan, general manager, Hilton London Wembley.

Team Members from Hilton London Wembley donated time out of their day to attend the Chalkhill Community Centre to paint and decorate. The team successfully helped to refresh the centre’s main hall, meeting rooms, reception area and corridors, improving the environment and providing the local community with a revitalised space to enjoy.

“The team from Hilton London Wembley have done an absolutely fantastic job, we appreciate all of the time that each of the Team Members have donated to help with this project. The change has been phenomenal and we look forward to welcoming the community to enjoy our new look,” said Gloria Travers, development worker and chair of trustees at Chalkhill Community Centre.

Global Week of Service is Hilton Worldwide’s largest annual volunteer service initiative and brings together Team Members from across Hilton Worldwide's corporate offices and hotel properties, helping to strengthen the company’s connections with its communities and bringing it closer together as a global team. In 2012, during Hilton Worldwide’s inaugural Global Week of Service, Team Members at more than 600 properties and offices completed more than 800 volunteer projects in 401 cities across the company’s global footprint. The projects focused on engaging Team Members and delivering on Hilton Worldwide’s commitment to Travel with Purpose by creating opportunities, strengthening communities, celebrating cultures and living sustainably. This year, the company aims to build upon this community engagement and is striving to complete more than 1,200 service projects.
