Hilton Prague Hotel Guests Use Their Small Change To Big Effect

PRAGUE - Guests staying at Hilton Hotels & Resorts over the coming months will be using their small change to make a big difference to disadvantaged children as part of Hilton in the Community Foundation's annual fund-raising campaign.
"Small Change, Big Difference" will be running in the Czech Republic throughout October, November and December this year at both Hilton Prague and Hilton Prague Old Town. The campaign invites hotel guests staying at select Hilton Hotels & Resorts worldwide to add an optional €1 or 25 CZK onto their room bill during their stay. Thanks to the generosity of these guests the campaign as a whole has now raised over €1 million for children's charities since its inception in 2004.
All proceeds raised from the campaign in Prague will be used to support the Tereza Maxova Foundation for Children (Nadace dětem Terezy Maxové). The charity's mission is to reduce the number of children living in institutional care - about 24,000 in the Czech Republic. Money raised from the campaign will specifically be used to give children growing up in care the opportunity to take part in specialist English language courses, thereby improving their communication skills, confidence and discursive abilities.

By choosing to add an optional 25 CZK we can help to ensure that disadvantaged children receive the support that they need and help to open up the world to them through these specialist classes. In total, 128 hotels in 17 countries will be participating in the campaign.
About Hilton in the Community Foundation
Hilton in the Community Foundation was founded in 2000 as Hilton Worldwide's charity dedicated to supporting young people in need. Focused on Education and Health, grants supporting disadvantaged young people are made in the UK and continental Europe, while in the event of international disaster; grants are made to relieve organisations at the Trustees' discretion.
In 2009, through the Foundation team members, guests and suppliers raised over €1,267,300 while the Foundation awarded 324 grants to 251 charities.
The Foundation's core costs are funded by Hilton Worldwide, so every net pound raised goes directly to good causes. About "Small Change, Big Difference"
"Small Change, Big Difference" is the annual guest-facing campaign organised by Hilton in the Community Foundation. Money is raised by guests donating £1 or €1 on their hotel bill over the festive period (October, November and December since 2007). Since the campaign's inception in 2004, it has raised over €1million for charities working with disadvantaged children.

The mission of Tereza Maxova Foundation for children is to enable each child to live in a safe and loving family environment. In the Czech Republic, about 24,000 children are still growing up in institutional care. The main goal of the foundation is, therefore, to reduce this number by three key pillars:
- Prevention of unnecessary removal of a child from its family. In this area, the Foundation provides financial support to non-governmental, non-profit organizations that provide consultancy and tailor-made assistance to families in crisis or all sorts of therapies, etc.
