Hilton Birmingham Metropole Enjoys A Healthy Pipeline In 2015

BIRMINGHAM, UK - This year is set to be one of Hilton Birmingham Metropole's most successful years yet with a healthy events pipeline that is already 10 per cent higher than last year. It caps off a great 2014, which saw 10,000 more room bookings compared to the previous year, and an extra 1,700 event delegates walking through the doors.

The positive figures can partly be attributed to the attraction of larger events to the hotel during 2014. The hotel has also seen a rise in the number of repeat events, including the likes of the UK Games Expo, which has grown from 600 delegates in its first year at the hotel to 3,500 and is back for its third year at Hilton Birmingham Metropole in 2015. The success of its events business last year has also led to the creation of five new positions for the sales and events team.

Patrick Stapleton, general manager, Hilton Birmingham Metropole, said, "As well as attracting new business, making sure we hold on to repeat business and that it grows in numbers and spend due to the popularity of the venue has continued to be a success for us. The fact that we have managed to do so is testament to the facilities we can offer here - from access to 33 meetings rooms and banquet suites, to four restaurants and eateries, offering plenty of choice in one location.

"With events, we have been able to offer some added benefits such as exclusive access to our online event planning tools, including Getplanning, eProposal, ePlanner and eMenus, helping to make organisers' lives much easier when it comes to arranging small or large events. The exciting launch of eCheck-in by Hilton Worldwide further ensures we continue to be pioneers in the industry."

However, the hotel won't just rest on its laurels and is constantly looking at ways to improve its facilities for guests, including the introduction of a new room category, the Single Deluxe rooms. The hotel has also recently refurbished its lounge area and introduced many stylish features turning it into a trendy space, perfect for an after conference cocktail or even a meeting after a busy day at the NEC. As well as changes to the hotel itself, 2015 is expected to be an exciting period for the region with the launch of Grand Central Birmingham, Resorts World Birmingham and hosting the Rugby World Cup - all driving people to the West Midlands.

Stapleton said, "We expect to see occupancy levels increase further and also the length of stay, as people look to make an occasion of visiting the area. For example, they may attend an event at the Hilton or the NEC and then decide to stay an extra night to visit Resorts World or go shopping in Birmingham.

"We also expect to see more leisure users in addition to corporate travellers. Resorts World Birmingham will offer our 24-hour facilities, including lounge bar, room service and gym but also through our large range of rooms and suites, suitable for solo travellers, families and executives alike."

Along with growing its events and developing its lounge area, a key focus for Hilton Birmingham Metropole in 2015 is to build its international client base. The hotel has always enjoyed good interest from business travellers and organisations due to its excellent air, road and train links. However, 90 per cent of its business is still generated by the domestic market.
