TOKYO - Hilton Tokyo Odaiba announced recently that the hotel’s Japanese restaurant Sakura will offer four kinds of Ehou-maki sushi rolls between Jan. 23 and Feb. 3, 2016 on the occasion of Setsbun, the last day of winter according to Japan’s traditional calendar.

This year the Ehou-maki lineup consists of four specially prepared rolls including the Matubagani Roll, the Mega Roll, the Celebrities' Roll and the Ehou-Maki Roll prepared with the exquisite work of Tomoyuki Katano, sushi chef, Hilton Tokyo Odaiba.

The Matubagani Roll is generously filled with crab meat from three shelled legs, softened crab meat and crab tomalley, for customers to enjoy the contrast of the rich flavor of crab tomalley and sweet, melting crab meat. The giant Mega Roll is six times as big as our regular roll, prepared with a wish to bring in six times more luck. Containing two whole conger eels, four large prawns and four lumps of salted herring roe, it is a wonderful treat in a spectacularly big size. The extra-special Celebrities’ Roll is made with the finest fresh seafood popular in sushi, such as top-quality tuna with high and medium fat contents, sea urchin, salmon roe and squid, among others. The standard Ehou-maki is also a real delight with sophisticated taste, coming from carefully calculated combination of painstakingly cooked prawn meat with shiitake mushroom and ingredients of different textures such as pokewood, cucumber and flying-fish roe.

Ehou is a direction considered most auspicious for a certain year, and for 2016 it is southsouthwest. It is our wish that our gorgeous ehou-maki rolls will bring to our guest and customers good luck and wonderful 2016 filled with smiles. The rolls ordered for takeout will be wrapped in bamboo skin to give a distinct traditional feel.
